DMCA Takedown Policy
ToneVault respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent international frameworks. If you are a rights holder (or an authorised representative) and you believe that material on this site infringes your copyright, you can submit a takedown notice using the process below.
How to submit a takedown notice
Send a written notice to dmca@tonevault.example containing all of the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed. Include the song title, original recording, composer, and any registration or catalogue numbers if applicable.
- Identification of the infringing material on ToneVault. Include the full URL of the ringtone page (e.g.
https://tonevault.example/ringtone/<slug>) and, if relevant, the URL of the audio file itself. - Your contact information: full legal name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on behalf of the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
What happens after we receive a notice
Upon receipt of a complete and valid takedown notice, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the identified ringtone within 24 hours of verification, in most cases.
- Notify any internal contributor or curator associated with the listing that it has been taken down.
- Retain a record of the notice for our compliance archive.
We process DMCA notices in the order received, and we prioritise complete and well-formed notices. Incomplete notices may delay action while we request the missing information.
Counter-notices
If your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice. The counter-notice should include:
- Identification of the material removed and the location at which it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your full legal name, address, telephone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate federal court.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Send counter-notices to dmca@tonevault.example. We will forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant. If they do not file legal proceedings within ten business days, the material may be restored.
Repeat infringer policy
ToneVault maintains a policy of removing access for repeat infringers and bad-faith actors. We also reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who repeatedly submits incomplete, abusive or fraudulent DMCA notices.
Good-faith use
ToneVault hosts short ringtone-length cuts of publicly known Hindi film songs for personal preview and use. We believe this falls within the spirit of fair use and personal use traditions in most jurisdictions. However, we honour all valid takedown notices regardless — rights holders have the final say on how their work is distributed.
